Devlog Devlog #7: End of Year Goals

'Tis the season to think about how far things have come in 2022 and what to look forward to in 2023. Today let's talk about what I hope to accomplish before the new year.

Why have four tools when you can have one multi-tool?

Visuals: There are many assets in the game which were placeholder from the summer before I brought on my incredible artist. By the end of the year, I'd love for each of these to be replaced with something that matches the visual language introduced by the new environment art. Tools, many of the buildings and character are top of the list.

Sounds: Too much of the game is still silent. Everywhere I've added sound, the game has come more alive, so at a minimum I would like to do a first pass on every interaction the player makes with the world. Might be interested in finding help here and there are folks in my local gamedev community who could help.

Music: I'll hold off any big announcement here, but I have some big news in the music department. While the temp tracks I have been using were growing on me, I couldn't pass on the chance to work with this composer and bring more of their music into the world.

Design: During most of development, I've not had the opportunity to sit down and play the game for all of its content, especially at the pace it is supposed to be played. I imagine many game developes have this issue. I'm hoping to complete the demo every weekend to truly find out how things feel.

Of course there are dozens of technical things I want to fix and tweak, network code to debug. Safe to say, I'll be busy until Christmas!
